Are you thinking of traveling but afraid to make that first move? Fret not. There are ways to make money while you travel. And Black Nomad is here to list some of the best ways to do just that.
Teach English
Teaching is arguably the best option to travel while earning income, but first, you’ll need to be certified. After that, the world is your oyster. Some places in the Middle East and Asia will cover your housing costs, i-to-i TEFL, transportation, and vacations. Some companies even reimburse flight costs upon completion of your teaching contract. Given the circumstance that have arisen in 2020, this year you have the option to teach online or work remotely. My first move abroad in 2012 was sponsored by my English-teaching job. At the time, only in-class instruction was offered to teachers. And although I didn’t enjoy teaching it did help with the Bills while living in a Brazilan Favela.

Start A Travel Blog
I know, I know. This one is easier said than done. It took me eight years after my initial travel to finally start Black Nomad. However, if you like to write and take a decent picture or two, a travel blog should be on your radar as a potential source of income. It might take some time to build up your audience and following. But your web presence may eventually net a sponsorship or paid travel gig, all while also making advertisement income and establishing affiliate links.
Get a working holiday visa
Honesty hour: I’m upset at myself for not taking advantage of this earlier. But if you’re between the ages of 18 and 30, look into a working holiday visa. They’re visas that are good for up to a year and typically cover pretty much any job you want in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France, Ireland, and Singapore. Usually, there is a requirement to work on a farm for at least 3 months but after that, you’re free to work in any industry. Just check out Work Holiday visa link.
Sell your photography
This is a no brainer for me and some people may have already been doing this. Note that you may not make a killing from this, but every penny adds up. You could end up with a steady stream of income by licensing your photos for commercial use or selling them to publications.
WORK IN A HOSTEL
If you’ve ever stayed in a hostel before, you know just how fun they can be! Transient backpackers, excited about life, coming through constantly looking for a party, or just good vibes. And you can be a part of that. Hostel Jobs contains a list of hostel jobs that you can check out. Working in a hostel is one of the funniest travel jobs you can have if for no other reason, the staff becomes your family. The hostel starts to feel like home and you are continuously meeting awesome travelers. Not to mention, you can get a nice variety of jobs working in a hostel, so there’s probably a job that suits your skill set. But the most popular jobs are usually working reception, bartending, being a tour guide, and housekeeping.
